1. If you are looking for a group tour instead of going solo, check out the internet for hiking, art, cultural tours. The Los Angeles Times have a section each Sunday on international travel that can give you deals. latimes.com. Also, rei.com who sells outdoor gear also have tours. I find them a bit expensive. Also, realadventures.com Of course, you will need to decide WHERE in Europe interests you most. Consider the difference between downtown Paris scene vs exploring the caves of France. Something to think about.
2. There are a quite a few tour companies that offer what you are for looking for. The best thing to do is to book the land with the tour company and book the air separate.
