On vacation in Europe how shall I take funds to pay for souvenirs?
Would it be best to take travelers checks or exchange my money for Euros? Should I do this before I go or here at my bank or someplace else? I've never traveled to Europe before and I'm stumped.

- I would take a combination of travellers' checks and a small amount of euros - basically a good mix of the two. You want to have some spare cash around, however, as with anywhere, it is important that you dont carry too much, in case your bag gets stolen/you get robbed. Make sure you're safe when travelling, and dont forget travel insurance! Hope this helps
- Don't buy souvenirs - there is a weight restriction if you are flying. Send friends and family a crd instead or take photographs and have a viewing evening with lots of wine when you return!!!! However, on the money front, take some euros to start with and a loaded cash card to be able to use at cash points hwhereveryou travel.
- Traveler’s cheques are not widely used in the EU today and many stores refuse to accept them. In fact even ordinary cheques are rarely used and if accepted few stores will cash them. The acceptance of bank cards is very high and only small establishments will not take Visa and MasterCard. American Express and Diners are sometimes also accepted. When making a purchase, at least in some countries, stores are willing to charge your card with a higher amount and give you cash in return. Visa and MasterCard can also be used in ATMs. For non-European cards there is usually a fee. If may be wise to change a small amount of money before you go and use your card as much as possible.
