What's the cheapest way to Western Europe from California?
I want to travel to Western Europe, preferably Amsterdam... I don't care when or how.. and from what airport (Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles) What's the cheapest way? Expedia seems to have the best deals, but it's too expensive, any ideas?

- There is no secret, magic website with the cheapest airfares. Do the research by checking multiple sites and don't forget to check the airline websites. I have often gotten the best fares via the airline sites. When you travel and for how long matter a lot. Be as flexible as possible regarding dates - some websites let you choose "flexible" dates for a period (ex. now to December). Consider alternate airports. For example, it may cost less to fly to Brussels or London than to Amsterdam - though you have pay for a train ticket to get to your actual destination. Saving $100 on the air ticket by flying elsewhere and then having to pay $100 for a train ticket is not a savings. Check with a real travel agent for deals and special; offers. Some airlines let you partially pay with frequent flier miles even if you don't have enough for a "free" ticket. An example is Delta: www.delta.com You can earn miles many ways, and getting their credit card usually results in a large miles bonus. Good luck!
