Can i travel to Italy from India via Dubai with valid PDIS(Resident Permit Card) but expired VISA?

I am Planning to travel to Italy from India Via Dubai on 15-Sep-2009 and my PDIS expiry is on 18-Sep-2009. Considering this will I face any Problem traveling??? It is written as "lavoro subordinato" in the remarks of my expired visa. I would also apply for my renewal of PDIS on July 18th and will have the postal recipts with me.

  1. I doubt you will be allowed through with the expiry date so close on your PDIS.
  2. Whether your travel will face any problems depends on the purpose for which your Permesso di Soggiorno was issued and on the decision of the Italian Immigration Officer. Just tell us what was entered in Italian language on the first line of the remarks column of your expired D visa and we can tell you whether your entry will cause a problem. Please use the "edit" and "add details" function on the bottom of your question. Edit (based on additional details) You should not have a problem to re-enter on your residence and work (employee) permit if you hold the postal receipt of the application. You should however also get a statement from your employer that you have been granted leave, that your contract has been extended and the required approval has been obtained from the Italian Job Centre.
  3. I don't recommend traveling with expired visa, however, you may consult your local travel agents for travel advice.
