Possible to use california driver license in europe?

I'm heading off to Europe for vacation in June and I'm curious if my California Driver License will enable me to drive a Vespa( those motorized scooters). Or will i need to get another license in the states?e.i: a motorcycle license? a international license?

1. Hi I am not sure about motorcycles driving license issue but I used my American driving license many times in Europe(spain , france,Italy, UK) and they did not mind . By the way it is from California as well.
2. most people get an international license. do you have the motorcycle endorsement on your California license. if you don't you may not be able to ride a bike in europe.
