do you need a visa to visit Europe if you only have a green card?

My girlfriend and I want to go on vacation to Europe, but she does not have a US passport or a passport of any of the EU countries. She holds a Belarus passport so she would normally need a visa. Does having a green card eliminate the need for a visa, as it would if you had a US passport?

1. No, you need a passport. But having a green card may make it easier to get visa. Check it at an embassy of one of the countries you want to go too.
2. A passport is absolutely needed and I believe it´s the same thing with the visa. Cheque with the embassies or consulates of those countries you are going to visit or any authority in US. Best to travel with every document you need, it will save you from many troubles. Good luck!
3. Sorry, but for citizens of Belarus a visa is necessary for visiting most (if not all) other European countries. A Green Card doesn't mean anything to EU customs / immigration. But holding a Green Card might ease getting a visa at an european embassy: usually you have to show up there for an interview, and holding a GC together with you by her side I don't expect them denying your girlfriend a visa, because there's no "threat" that she intends staying in the EU illegally.
